In Las manos de la vida, Avakian introduces bodily presence into a surface dominated by darkness. White hands emerge over the black field like traces, apparitions or signs of contact, creating a direct tension between matter, body and memory.
The work holds a particular expressive force: pictorial gesture coexists with the human mark, as if the painting recorded both the artist’s movement and the presence of other bodies. Between shadow and apparition, the image builds a scene charged with physical and emotional intensity.
