Description
In Blue, the composition is organized through the tension between the white ground and a series of blue and black gestures moving rapidly across the surface. Lines intersect, break apart and reappear, creating an open rhythm in which the painting seems to be constantly forming.
Avakian treats color as both impulse and structure. Blue does not function as an emotional background, but as an active force that organizes movement and sustains the intensity of an image shaped by energy, air and expansion.
