In Stand By II, a front-facing seated figure occupies a small point within the white surface. The lowered head and hands gathered on the lap create a closed, restrained, and silent posture.
The wide emptiness surrounding the body heightens the sense of waiting. Werthein reduces the scene to a few elements, concentrating the image on stillness, distance, and suspended time.
