In Traces, the impression of a hand appears faintly across an almost empty surface. The fingers register with varying intensity, leaving marks that seem to fade while other traces move across the paper.
The work approaches presence through what remains after contact. Avakian reduces the image to a fragile, direct and bodily sign.
