In Embrace I, two bodies fold into one another until they form an almost circular figure. Arms and hands hold the composition together, making physical contact the center of the image.
Etching and aquatint combine fine lines with deep areas of shadow, giving weight and movement to the figures. The embrace appears as a gesture of protection, closeness and inwardness.
