Description
In Ensayos sobre una sombra, a figure in profile is set against a light background, while its edges remain soft, open and almost dissolving. The green palette and diffuse light create a quiet image in which the body seems less portrayed than observed in the moment just before disappearance.
Here, the shadow becomes a space of rehearsal: an unstable form where identity, memory and presence are put to the test. Estienne works with a minimal, restrained image, yet one charged with tension. The portrait becomes a lateral apparition, a figure that never fully gives itself away and invites us to look at what remains between form and its fading.
