Pablo Picasso
Sylvette au Fauteuil, 1960
-
A central figure in Picasso’s production during the 1950s, Sylvette David appears here transformed into an essential image: profile, line, shadow and presence. The composition condenses the artist’s formal freedom into a work where portraiture moves beyond representation and becomes sign.
Created and published in 1960 at the Ateliers of Robert Bosson de Lion, France, the piece belongs to an edition of 60 portraits. It is signed by Pablo Picasso in red at the lower right and is accompanied by a certificate by Miguel Gaspar Alba. Its documented provenance refers to Casa Gaspar, Barcelona, a historic circle of collaboration and friendship with the artist.
