In El Pórtico, Salvador Dalí develops, within his graphic production of the 1970s, a vision in which architecture and fantasy merge into a single scene. Related to the 1975 series La vida es sueño, the work transforms the motif of the threshold into a symbolic space, populated by ambiguous forms and figures held in tension. The contrast between deep blacks and gestural lines reinforces a dramatic atmosphere in which reality becomes enigma. The piece encapsulates Dalí’s late imagination and his enduring fascination with the theatre of the mind.
