Description
In this work, Piero Vicente dissolves the self-portrait as a fixed identity, transforming it into an unstable field of inscription. The figure emerges and recedes within a surface marked by dense gestures, drags, and veils that disrupt any attempt at fixation. The face does not appear as a closed image, but as a process suspended between appearance and disappearance. Painting becomes a material record of that instability, where subjectivity is constructed through layering, erasure, and the persistence of the gesture.
