In Calle, Sonia Labraña constructs an urban landscape through a succession of trees that follows the perspective of the pavement and leads the viewer’s gaze into the distance. Line, staining, and transparent washes organize an image in which the structure of drawing coexists with a damp and silent atmosphere.
Executed in ink on paper, the work demonstrates a strong command of drawing as an autonomous language. The interwoven branches, repetition of the trunks, and tonal variations transform an everyday street into a composition of considerable graphic density. The reverse bears an inscription with the title, medium, and artist’s name.
