In Retrato de mi abuelo albañil, Nayla Zarba constructs an image in which the support becomes an active part of memory. The portrait, inscribed on the brick, articulates a direct relation between material and biography, where labor becomes surface. The work proposes a crossing between family archive and object, condensing the figure into a fragment that is both image and remainder. Memory appears here as something sustained by the material, but also by its erosion.
