Cassia House presents Eunice Balbi’s first solo exhibition. The show brings together recent works alongside paintings from different moments of her production, proposing a journey through an expanding pictorial universe where narrative, memory, and presence intertwine as a visual experience.
Born in 1999 in Concepción del Uruguay, Entre Ríos, Balbi develops her pictorial practice at the intersection of personal experience, cultural imagination, and contemporary sensibility. Her work is part of a generation of Latin American artists who, in dialogue with global visual culture, reaffirm the material power of painting as a language of presence and symbolic construction.
It begins to sound before we know where it comes from. It does not announce itself or impose itself. It moves forward with a steady rhythm, without haste and without pause, as if the story were already underway when we arrive. It is the moment when a voice becomes visible and continues in order to remain alive.
Eunice Balbi’s painting is born from remembered narrative. Her images resemble scenes found in the midst of a larger story: characters suspended mid-gesture, bodies traversed by something unspoken, gazes with memory. Each painting holds the sensation that something happened before and continues to happen afterward.
The works approach one another like fragments of the same pulse. They do not seek order or closure. They coexist like scenes that respond to one another, like variations on the same tone. Some speak aloud, others barely whisper, but all sustain the same rhythm. The popular and the intimate blend without hierarchy, as in stories that are transmitted and transformed, yet persist.
This exhibition accompanies the artist’s first individual gesture as an opening. It brings together works from different moments that converse with one another as the germ and pulse of an ongoing narrative. Together they form a territory where painting is narrative and each scene reveals a world that unfolds and continues, painting by painting, its own course.
The exhibition accompanies the public emergence of this artistic universe in a solo format, consolidating a significant moment both for the artist’s trajectory and for Cassia House’s program. The opening will feature live music by Cristian Leguizamón and the support of Bodega Canteros, as part of an experience of encounter between artwork, space, and community.
